Hello.

I just got my self a new DAW. Here are the specs.

AMD Phenom Quad 9650
ASUS M2N-CM-DVI
RAM - Transcend DDR2-667
Seagate 500GB SATA.
Nvidia 8400GS Super with 512Mb ram (dual head)
Roland RPC -1 PCI Converter cards

XP home
Cubase SX3

I optimized XP from here

http://www.audioforums.com/windows-xp-optimization.php

My cubase dongle only works from two of the usb ports in the front of the cabinet. :eusa_think: .. no idea why it wont work when i stick it in the back.

My last DAW lasted me a while and i have been so outta touch with all the new processors and boards. This machine is now up and running now with all the stuff i need. If you have any comments/suggestions/optimisations for this DAW, please do comment. I would implement it and finally take an image of the drive for backup.

Thanks for reading. Cheers.

You might not have the USB host controller(s) installed for the rear ports. Open your Device Manager - any yellow exclamation marks?

And check your bios to see how many USB ports are enabled.

Yes. the ports in the back are all enabled and are able to read usb drives. its just the dongle it wont accept. It detects it and then installs the stienberg protection device driver, then when i run cubase it sends back an error something like "cant Getinfo file from protection device". This is the case with all the ports in the back (it works with both the ports in the front... ) :eusa_think: :D ...

Thanks for the replies... cheers

One thing I would check is to see if the USB port IRQs are being shared on the ones not working with the protection device. It may help narrow down the problem.

to view IRQs:

start->run>msconfig

Thanks again. cheers.

Hello..

yes. i did do that. Every time i put the dongle into a new usb port the new hardware detection comes on and asks for driver install. After the driver install, it fails to work.

I would like to show some screen shots here soon (i have some work till the end of the week) . I hope that would help in some way.

Thanks for the reply. Best wishes.
