View Full Version : Sad that there is so little activity in here...
You would think that music people would be all over this, but I guess there are plenty of other forums for that.
Maybe people are tired of listening to new music.
Maybe the generally serious vibe of this forum discourages posting and listening to music.
Perhaps I should have some lunch. :eusa_think::eusa_whistle::icon_yes:

Hey Nate,
Did you ever stop to think some of us Nuendians might be doing work which doesn't allow us to just post it all over the interweb willy nilly....???
When I do a project that allows it I usually try to put it up on my little player thing...
So to prove music can come from Nuendo and its master, for you, Nate....

Nate and I are a special breed of fish...
...sort of like celestial Salmon in the sea of pond scum...
We swim, we fight, we know we are right, against the current of current delusion...
Truth be the bitters, not sweet little twitters who only lay face to the schemes...
They seek deception, confusion.
We are the ugly, the outcast, the hardened face of broken dreams.
Well D, at least you are an eloquent fish :D

Second, the moderation here has made this forum just like the official forums in that there is no community.
.. and for whatever reason , you are still here , constantly reminding us/them of that, day in, day out.... :icon_rolleyes:
The only person I see consonantly frothing about a division between the Nuendo and Cubase users is you.., its way past tiresome.
Mate, its simple, don't let the door hit you on the back of the head on the way out.., on second thought, hang around a little longer until at least the N4 update is released , can't wait to see you eat your own..
BTW: Sam is too humble to say so, but as a musician , he could easily wipe the floor with you Mate, so maybe you should get an idea who it is you are actually sizing up before pissing on about your superior musical talents.. ?? !!
I love a good fight :pop_corn:
This one is just simmering right now, but perhaps it will get more lively! :bouncy:
Hey Nate,
I am amazed that you think because I (and other like me) engineer and mix trax that they aren't imparted with some of me too...I feel i put an enourmous amout of creativity into mixing - quite often I will play some stuff on records I am working on also - but its not like we engineers are guys in white coats with nothing more to offer than knob twisting....them days are gone...
If I am involved at pre-production I ususally have quite a bit to do with the songwriting too....things very rarely run the same when they walk out the door as they did when they walk in...but I would never call it 'my music'....
Maybe we do take you too seriously...but maybe you need to develop you sense of humour to include more than slating insults at whoever is unfortunate enough to be nearby...i find it so strange that we who take ourselves so seriously can get on so well and joke around together...
But hey - if your comments smoke someone out who wasn't posting their stuff - then good for us I suppose....
oh and if the moderation here so displeases you, you are more than welcome to not come back...you might be happier for it by the sounds of things...being round here with all these Steinberg shills is really bringin you down man....
Hey nate...it isnt us that said we dont like it here...it is you that keeps saying how Cubendo is no good - why are you wasting your energy here? We dont need to guest you mate, you're a big boy - if you dont like it then why torture yourself and come here?

Well, I like you Nate. I like you a lot and I look forward to your posts. In fact, I think you're kind of sexy. If you were drunk and you'd passed out, I might even undo your buttons if I thought you wouldn't know. :098:

I think I've only ever posted one piece on a forum, and that was for a joke. I don't feel the need to post anything. I have nothing to prove to myself or anyone else.
That's not to say that others shouldn't post their stuff if they want feedback.

there's a great deal of solid technical knowledge among the members of this small group and everyone is so generous to share. Hate to see anyone go.

Nobody's going anywhere, from what I can make of it. As for posting things for people to listen to, I will probably never have any interest in doing that. But if somebody else wants to post something, hey - more power to him or her. I might even give it a listen. But lots of interaction on the subject of musical pieces doesn't seem very likely to me. It's my guess that people here are here because they have an interest in the technical side of things. They generally don't strike me as a bunch of musicians who want to noodle around with each other, or even want to show each other anything that they have played or recorded or whatever. There are a few exceptions. But most of the people here seem to be pretty serious technical folks, engineers, sound for film guys, etc. They don't strike me as likely to post a song and ask for feedback about it. But I'm all for having those exceptions doing that. It might be kinda fun to hear some examples of some peoples' work. And who knows? Maybe that could even lead to some example-based deeper understanding of Nuendo or something (well, it COULD happen).

Exactly. This site is meant to be about community - to me that means sharing and mutual support, not showing off or proving anything. So when people post their stuff in here, I appreciate it and I generally learn something from it.
I'm sure I could learn plenty of stuff from the likes of Daryl :D

D & Nate, let's hear some of your work (instead of the complaining)
And here's a straight pass through of a 4 minute acoustic guitar idea that I tossed some keys and drums over yesterday...

Terry,
How does that paypal sale work for you? Do you have to manually send someone a download link, do you send them an archive with all the songs? Really curious.
Oh, I like the hair!! :)

The hair is long gone...
If by the PayPal sale, you mean the "complete album in mp3" thing, it's only been active for about a week now. I get an email notification of an order, then I send the buyer a link to the ZIP file which contains all the tracks and song lyrics/credits on RTF/Word docs. So, just like selling a CD, once one is out there, I have ZERO control of the subsequent and inevitable copying/file sharing that ensues... :eusa_eh:

I regularly used to post mixes of my songs on the Cubase forum in the hope of some useful tips on how to improve my mixing. As a result of the feedback I got (and as a result of watching mix tutorial videos and reading every article I could find on the subject) I am much better at mixing than I was. However, I did find that the more my skills improved, the less useful feedback I got from the forum. That's why I haven't posted anything here.
If anyone wants to listen to my songs (all written, recorded and mixed by me and, apart from the guitars, performed by me too) then they're all on my soundclick site (link in my sig). The best mixed ones are nearer the top of the list in general (because they're the most recent). I could go back and remix the older ones but life's too short.
Right, off to work on a song.
Simon.
