Previewing clips in 5.1....

Hi all,

I have a serious beef with the way Nuendo previews audio when processing a plugin offline. I do this millions of times a day for my post gigs....


As is stands - when you hit preview to audition the settings of the plugin you are about to render into a clip it comes out all 6 channels at once = lame phase nightmare...useless listening!!!

So for now I made a dummy phones output in the Control Room...and a dummy ext input...and set the pref 'preview in phones channel' (or something like that)....now I set the phones input to the fake and disconnected ext in (so it doesn't double up my mix on playback) and use totalmix to route the phones HW outs to my L/R monitors...

This is pretty a pretty lame workaround, but its all I have for now....is there any way to make the preview only go to LR on your main 5.1 monitor buss in the Nuendo CR???? Or does everyone doing 5.1 in Nuendo just put up with this?

That's the only solution I know of so far. There needs to be a pref to send the preview to a buss, not just phones.

If it could be assigned to a buss within the mixer and not just the CR, you could create a stereo buss pairing of L/R of the surround Outputs - that's available to channels, but needs to be in prefs for preview as well.
