I knew how to do this before but forgot. How do you turn off those annoying popup windows that show up in the bottom right of the taskbar?

ok sorry I couldn't resist....are you asking about the icons in the taskbar or popups in the taskbar (yes I know you said popups)..
for the icons I right click and choose Properties, then choose customize and then those I dont' want to ever see I put as always hide. but I am sure you must have meant popups :-)

If I remember right, tweak UI can handle this. But I usually don't turn them off completely, but only disable the annoying control services and leave those I want to see (for example the notification that an external drive can be disconnected safely).

thanks guys. I guess it's just some of the notifications I would like to get rid of, not WinXP system stuff, more installed 3rd party applications hijacking the popups..

start run
type msconfig
start up is where most of it is found....
all kinds of things to break in there
dont screw with services area unless you have a real clue
