Preliminary Feature list I found at the Samp Forum:

Samplitude 11 :

Vandal Ampsimulation – the new reference for guitar and bass. Sensitive, warm, crunchy or heavy.
Audio/MIDI Pre-Recording (retrospective recording)
new Advanced EQ with up to 6 bands, optional linar phase mode switchable, adjustable shelving Q
Maximizer (Upward Compression)
Studio Essentials – effects suite and structured effect categories in the menu - quick and fast access to all samplitude effects
A video track for samplitude which offers better performance and compatibility (Scrubbing, Scrolling, CPU), option to show time position inside the video. Still only one video file and only one video object, but with easy offset/start/end setting. (Sequoia can deal with several video files at once.)
OMF/AAF Import/Export (will be an add-on for Samplitude Pro, but is always included in Sequoia)
Revolvertracks (AKA “Play lists”)
MIDI Velocity Dynamics – offline and realtime
Comfortable Groove Quantize and Groove Extraktion for Audio and MIDI in all directions: MIDI to MIDI, MIDI to Audio, Audio to MIDI, Audio to Audio.
Compressed waveform display option

Further news:

Virtual synth BeatBox2 (Step Seq Heaven), Vita (Sample horse power), Revolta (VA-Synthesis just ONE BETTER)
Docking for transport console, managers, AQ wizard, ...
no more VSTi limit in Samplitude Standard (similar to PRO in this regard now)
CPU-Power peakmeter mode for tracks
New Design for VIP, Mixer, Manager
Color tool for quick coloring of objects and tracks
track multiselection and track grouping functions
new audio prelisten and loading function with “BPM-Sync” option
MIDI Editor: Option for the automatic selection of Controller data with note selection. Selected controllers are moved together with notes then, for example.
MIDI Editor command "delete overlapping notes" now also deletes "doubled" notes
Humanize option (random distribution) for Quantization (Audio and MIDI)
stepping through VST(i) patches via shortcut
several time position display windows can be opened at the same time (with different settings)
a folder track can serve as a a Submix-Bus if desired

Sequoia only:

OMF/AAF Import/Export already included
MusYc (Multisynchron cutting tool)
Video Export Module

Looks like they managed to synchronize the Samplitude and Sequoia releases as well.., go figure..:eusa_whistle:

I still have the old version 8. I like it for preparing cd's, but not much else. I'm so used to Cubase that I can't stand using their interface......... anti-intuitive for me. I do like SoundForge for mastering.

So, are you using Samplitude for anything? Is it any good for editing with, or??.......

This is pretty clearly the model Steinberg tried to adopt with having two different named products with basically the same code base.

I'm fairly certain they also got their pricing for Nuendo for Sequoia as they bumped it up from $1000 to $2000 to position it in the market place when Sequoia was about that price.

The difference is :

Magix is a real German company, not some dried husk that has been kicked from pillar to post.
Everything about Steinberg in the last 4 years has been half assed as far as I can make out.

Poorly planned but, waaaaay worse.... diabolically implemented.
I always think of the TV show Get Smart when I think of Steinberg company meetings.

Somehow they still maintain a userbase, but I think it's IN SPITE of what they do, not because of it.

I use to be in the same position - until the automation mess in C4 forced me over to samp for editing a large scale 5.1 work.

Now I use Samplitude 70% and Cubase 30%. It is an excellent daw IMO, but it took me a while to get there. Next thing to explore is to get larger midi orchestrations going in Samp. I prefer the score/key editor by far compared to Cubase, but the latter still has more features though.

With the new skins from birdline it also looks much nicer, still a bit awkward in some areas but it's getting there.

Ar you kiddin me? It's a killer mixer/editor! Depending on the kind of work you do of course. You need to make a good key command layout and you are basically set.

Not so good for tracking or midi for that matter, but catching up there as well. Several leading engineers do tracking in Pro tools and edit/mix in Samplitude. When you get use to the object focused approach, it's hard to go back..

Thanks for the info. I sure like the video export feature if it works well. I'll have to check pricing with that feature, compared to Sequoia.

I know the OMF/AAF is available as an addon, but not sure if this is the case with video export. However, first go with it some days ago and it seemed to work fine ( funny though, they have ported the module from some of their video apps and the last export window has a completely different GUI :D )

OMF seems to import/export properly, had one issue but it was caused by some irregularity in my setup.

Another great thing with this new version is a complete overhaul of the video window/real time scrubbing. Used to be a pain: video window was black when scrolling/scrubbing but showed updated frame at play or stop mode.
