View Full Version : The New Toys have started arriving....
No one I know here would care as much as you guys, and I have to tell someone so it's gonna be you lot!
I have moved studios lately, and in the move I ditched the old lightpipe days and my shiny new Aurora16 has just shown up, now I am just waiting for my RME AES32 to show up tomorrow and I can be on my merry way!
So this weekend I am off to buy many many multicores and stageboxes and racks etc etc....
then for my favourite activity in all the world - TT PATCHBAY SOLDERING PARTY!!!! my house, sunday, you are all invited....BYO solder and iron :D
now to wait out the hours till the rest of the stuff arrives and I can hear the new joy at work....better go do some work to kill the time I think!

I'm not flying all the way for that. I have enough solder burns from the last one here.

Still cheaper to buy and solder the DB25 cables.
I can build a DB25 cable for about 50 bucks, verses the 250 you buy in the stores.
I'd rather builld the DB25 cables.
Get the DB25 single pins, and just slide them into the DB25 connector.
2 burns in 6 cables.
:D
I hate doing TT's.

Sam I get high enough with my own soldering, and some Dam Bramige.

Ah, cheers pete.....for now I want my thousand bucks for other stuff....but maybe after resoldering my bays on the weekend I could be provoked into doing something like that!!
Plus - soldering is a good way to get all my emo and self harm out :D

Yeh, Their not cheap but I'm pretty lazy with this shit these days. I had a bunch of DB25 breakouts already and only added a few extra to complete all my outboard. It was a no brainer.
Plug and play rules.

absolutely - if you had all the DB25 - XLR's already the 1000 bucks looks good if you figure the time taken to do the work! If not...its at least twice that again on cables!!
Just out of curiosity (if you dont mind me asking) - where did you get yours from and what was the $$AU in the end?
