Might be up for a matrox 3 head card at some point. (I think the P750)

My PC is aging, does what I need, no rush to upgrade, it has AGP video card slot)

If I buy AGP now will this work in a "modern" machine, don't want to waste money on a card that won't fit a new machine in a few years. I suspect PCIe
may be more modern, but do they do a 3 head card that is PCIe, then I guess it's possibly best to wait until I build a new machine?

thanks

I don't believe the AGP will work in modern boards as they have done away with AGP.
The 750, which I have is a PITA BTW.
For screens larger than 19", you need to use the newer version software which under my system completely disabled the ability to use the 3 monitor for a video out.

You can use 3 monitors in stretch, but the resolution has limits.

AGP won't work in PCIe, no way. There have come out some 4 head cards recently for pcie, if I remember right it was from sapphire. Otherwise I use a matrox triple head to go on a dual head card, works like a charme.

I thought it might be a tricky time to do it.

A rethink perhaps.

cheers for sharing.

How about a PCI card? And then get a mobo for your new machine with a couple of PCI slots and 4 PCI-e slots?......

Would that work?....

It depends on what you want to do with it. Triple Desktop or Video output? You could always go the route of a Parhelia APVe with the SE driver and run in triple desktop mode with independent resolutions.(you don't have to use PowerDesk, 3rd party apps work well ie UltraMon) There are some CPU spiking issues with some systems but it's an easy workaround. If you need video output you have to use the HF driver package. There's also the TripleHead2Go. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/

If you wanna go big (4 monitor)then this is another alternative from Nvidia.
