Cakewalk has just released a free update for all SONAR 8.x users..

The list is wide and varied and can be found Here (http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/kb20090219.asp)

Whats more interesting is the head developer giving in depth technical details on what was actually delivered Here (http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1648597)

No Matter what you think of Cakewalk/SONAR , this level of communication with the end user base should be applauded, sadly this is a level that we will never, experience as Cubendo users..

That is impressive communication. Cakewalk certainly has their act together there.

Would be interesting to see what the different settings of the ThreadSchedulingModel would do with different systems.

Also, the CPU% metric looks fair enough.

Good on them for making this level of detail public.

Just getting back into the new round of x-scaling tests with DAWbench DSP

I thought it would be an idea to start with SONAR, to get an idea on what the reported MP optimisations between 8.0 and 8.3 had delivered, and also how the application compared to Cubendo..

I'll let the graph do the talking..

I have a feeling the Cake boys are not going to be too happy with my final report for some reason... :eusa_whistle:

Anyone who has read my previous x-scaling shootout reports will know that SONAR looks good in regards to x-scaling when in isolation, but when compared to other applications, it falls glaringly short.. :-(

They still have some major work to do there...
