Just waiting for it to arrive next week. Works really well with VSL samples. Much better than a Lexicon PCM96
Also, I wanted to deflower this virginal forum section. Nice Christmas present. :>)

I heard the Bricasti is good stuff. So you like it even better than the PCM96 eh? Heard great things about the 96 too so the Bricasti must be especially awesome.

Well using with some of the stuff I do, the Lex won on about 5% of things (small room for drums), and the Bricasti was the clear winner on the rest.

This is very exciting Daryl. And their website has a few testimonials that are quite convincing.
Were you using Lexicons before? I thought you were using Altiverb. If you do have some lexicons in your possession, it would be great if you could upload some high quality MP3s and do shootout of similar reverb setting for Lexicon, Bricasti an Altiver... or anything else you can think of.
Is there any chance of that?
Cheers,

I have some Lexicons. THough Daryl might still have the pcm96 too. If not he can list his parameters and I can try and match to get a general idea.

That would be great.. as long as you guys use the same source file and try to keep the Wet % the same.
This would be really cool.
Somewhere I think there is some chamber music recorded in an anechoic chamber... that would be ideal as a reference track.

I have a PCM70. Never use it any more. However, when I was considering the Bricasti I hired both the Bricasti M7 and Lexicon PCM96, go a "proper" engineer round, and spend two days testing. Unfortunately I don't have any of the Lexicon mixdowns as I binned them after making the decision.
I still use Altiverb, and it sounds pretty good, particularly for stage placement, but you can't beat the tail of either a Lex or Bricasti IMO.
If you are thinking of getting a new unit, I would recommend the "hire it first" route. You can only make an informed decision when you hear it on your own stuff.

True.
I remember Peter Roos post some of his IRs using an anechoic chamber recording for before/after of his IRs... maybe I could get those from him.. would be very useful to have for shoot-outs nonetheless.

Listening to the both of them, I prefer the Bricasti. However, like you said, I do like the small rooms on the Lex. I find the Lex gives a darker sound than the Bricasti and for the stuff I'm involved with the Bricasti is much more useful.

Nice item to open gear lust! Seriously incredible piece of hardware, hopefully we'll get the shootout with the Lexi though they are both great.

And the price in the UK has just gone up 15%. So much for the Credit Crunch (what a silly name). :(
