View Full Version : N5 - Gets a New video engine....
http://nuendo.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=19968
C5 doesn't.
So C5 users are going to get the shaft with video.
This doesn't make alot of sense to me. Considering that C5 states use with video (ahum, composers).
So does this mean that C5 users are going to get stuck with truncated video and video issues through C5?

I wouldn't take that as a given Mate that only N5.1 will get the new video engine, if it does then it is a specific change to the current product line development and it could well be that Nuendo will actually become what they have been touting, an application more specifically targeted at "Post" over music creation..
I wouldn't read too much into any announcements made by the individual in question, there is a communication issue present due to a language barrier IMO, I have a hard enough time understanding anything he conveys .
Re truncated video , should be an easy enough fix , re continuing video issues , well , no need to even go there.. :eusa_whistle:

Well the new Video engine won't work in the 64 bit version of Nuendo, that's for sure. :piss2:

Depends on a few variables..
One being that it is Quicktime only, if in fact that is the case , remember the source of that nugget , and secondly if Apple do not navigate QT to x64...
Its open to speculation at the moment simply because the information is so vague.
We should make a concerted effort to ask the question and get a tangible answer, its not exactly going to threaten any trade secret.. :icon_no:

I see no reason not to believe the information about "based on Quicktime". I also see Apple being in no hurry to provide a working 64bit Windows version of QT. They took their time to provide any working version for Windows 32bit. Hence my scepticism at the whole thing.
However, I forgot to ask the new C5 users. Is Frame Offset still QT only? Anyone have time to check for me?

I'll do it later today if I get some clear air...
RE the new engine speculation, again Mate, I wouldn't put too much weight on anything that has been said to this point..:icon_no:

I guess Cubase is only for making beats now and anything to film should be Nuendo.

As Vin said. N5 will most probably be N5.1 directly, Cubase will most certainly get a C5.1 refresh around the same time.
And it would be a really strange and big change if it didn't get the new video engine also.
Let's wait and see.

Now... where are those old threads from the N2 and N3 announcements of their new video engines??? ...we've heard it all before.
I'll believe it when I see it... with 64-bit support for QT & Dolby/DTS Encoding, H264... every codec necessary.
They have to do SOMETHING to claim the extra $$$ between C5 and N5 is justified. I hope it finally happens.
Otherwise, the hype about a "New" video engine only means they inserted corrective code to fix the old one... virtually the same as the upcoming N4.5.xx update...
IF they deal with video truncation.
It's still unbelieveable that Steinberg is leaving C4 owners without the final round of v4 fixes.
C.net should be on fire about that, but most users probably don't even realize it.
