Well soon I think I am going to need some better ADDA as for integrating my outboard and doing more and more mastering etc etc....so what are peoples thoughts on these babies? I can get a really good deal on RME here so I do tend to lean their way :)

Any comparisons with Lynx and Apogee's offerings, how far off the league of prism et al are these boxes??

Cheers all, may the lust be strong!

From what I heard it's supposed to be pretty amazing, at least much better than any previous RME converters. There was a thread at Gearlslutz where people were preferring them by a large margin over Apogee and Lynx. Can't remember the thread though.

I'm also very interrested in these babies too. They have MADI option so it would help great deal when mixing my stuff with MADI compatible Re-recording stage.

So any experince on these is very welcome...:eusa_think:

I'd be interested in reading thru that thread.. , couldn't find it in a search unfortunately..

I have a ADI8-QSM connected to my Euphonix System5. It does the ADDA job pretty well. I honestly have'nt got down to doing AB tests vs the Euphonix converters.

Keep in mind that the ADI is only a converter, not a sound card. For going to a MADI console mix room you'd be better off with a HDSP MADI card which costs less than the ADI8-QS, and really has 56/64 outputs (depending on MADI format) instead of just 8 analog or AES to MADI.

I thought of that also, but...
I would need another card to get analog ins and outs. These I need when editing and premixing my work. So by using ADI8 with madi I need only one card, right?
I have no experience running more than one sound card in a system...

In that case buy both a HDSP MADI and a HDSP 9652 (or one like that). It'll cost less than the ADI8, and in both cases you need the HDSP MADI card anyway. With the new unified wdm driver you can have both cards running at the same time in the PC.

Hiya Steven.

Cheers for your thoughts - so you would say that you certainly dont miss anything over the Euphonix ADDA you have used? If you ever get the reason or chance to check them out next to each other I would be interested in hearing what you reckon mate.

Thanks

Sam

I have both Aurora 16 and RME ADI-8 QS, and to me the QS is notably better.
Both units are however great units and you can't go wrong.

I also like the feature set of the QS better. Great remote control tool, great analog limiter. Great headroom, and the supplied remote volume control is awesome if you need it.
