Greetings,
I've been using my trusty P4 DAW for more than 5 years and, as I'm planning a C5 upgrade and recently acquired 2 MR816s, I'm planning a new DAW. I'll be going with a i7 system, probably running (for now) XP Pro 32 bit. (Might go to Windows 7, but really hate Vista!) My question is motherboards. The Giga GX58 mobos claim to have TI firewire chips which I understand are preferable for firewire interface use with Cubase. I've always been an Asus fan, but their mobos do not use TI firewire chips. Would I be correct that if I use a Giga mobo, I can use the onboard (TI) firewire port where if I use an Asus, I'll need to purchase an additional TI based firewire interface? And I was wondering if there are any of you who have been using an i7 system and have any advice to give on configurations. Any advise here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just built a X58 and i920 rig. I'll probably plug the FF800 we have into it at some moment to give it a spin. I'll let you know then.
