Hi, I have been considering this device for purchase, seen all the videos, read a few reviews, but I figured this is the place where truth abounds! :D
Anyone have experience with it, is it stable, useful in workflow?
Thx

It is very stable. Very good fader.
Only quirk I can see is that the AI wheel only works with VST3 plugs.
Rest of the unit is top notch. Much better than the other single fader units I've tested.

Unfortunately, while it might be nice I think it is over priced for what it actually does.
1) No scribble script. You don't really know what channel you are on.
2) Only works with VST3 plugins.
As it is now, who knows if and when companies are going to release VST3 versions of their plugins.
For half the money, you can get and Alpha Channel or the Presonus one.
Even better, save a little more and get the Euphonix Artist series.
PC drivers are coming.
It will do 100 times what the C121 will do.

Except that it's 3 times more expensive than the other single fader units. :smash:
And +1 on the scribble strip. wtf?

Also... only works with N/C4 and above... and no other sequencer or DAW.

No XP64 drivers, although there are Vista 64bit drivers. As If I'm ever going to let that POS in my studio. :icon_rolleyes:
Still looks like a tonka toy to me.

ACtually there are 64bit drivers now.
But, like already said. The cost vs what it can do. OVER PRICED and only works with Cubendo.
As we all use other apps, being limited just makes it more of a wash.
Let's not forget the HORRIBLE history of Steinberg and hardware.
They release it, they support it, they abandon it. Leaving the users with a pole in their ass.
Houston, Midex. Ring any bells.
Personally, any hardware Steinberg releases, I will stay FAR, FAR away from.
1) too expensive, and more limited.
2) never know if they will discontinue.
3) no support on disco products.
I was luckly steered away from the Houston months before the discontinue.
Considering the price of the Midex 8's, $400, I'd be pissed that there is NO 64bit drivers.
I wouldn't trust Hardware from SB even if Yamaha owns them.
Before you buy, Ask for a buy back guarantee. If they discontinue in the next 4 years, they buy it back at what you paid for it.
If not, there are better products.

I only found Vista 64bit drivers. Will these work in XP? Who knows, and I wouldn't put it past SB to make sure that they don't.

... no reason why they shouldn't , but wouldn't surprise me if the installer will not run at all on XPx64 , as Steinberg has always clearly stated that XPx64 is not supported.. :eusa_whistle:

Hmmm... yes, from other sources I've read that you are quite right... & I am not fond of those sort of poles!
Thanks everyone for your feedback....
Makes me wonder about SB's firewire audio interfaces... but then again, who needs a pole after a year or two! :icon_twisted:

Snow Leopard may change all of that. :icon_eek3:
