Wow, that brings back some memories..

I had one of those puppies hanging off an Atari 1040 ST , but when I upgraded to a Mega4 STE , with a massive 40MB HD and overclocked from 16MHZ to 20 MHZ , I updated the Midex+ to a SMP II Rack unit, 4 x 4 MIDI, SMPTE with a large LED SMPTE display..

Man, I should never have sold that last rig.. :-(

I still have a complete Cubase Score II - the last version for Atari, boxed , manuals, dongle , just no Atari... :D

I still have an Atari MegaST 1, upgraded to 4MB... including Cubase Score, Avalon (sample editor), and some Steinberg editor for Roland D10/110... all with dongles... but I don't have an Atari compatible monitor anymore :icon_no:
And I still own a MIDEX+ :eusa_eh: ... never knew there was a version without the +

I had a pre Atari sequencer by a company called Cheetah that ran on the Sinclair Spectrum via a similar plug in cartridge. 8 track midi - of course it never worked as advertised. Nothing changes eh

Those are the security dongles... the Atari type. The Atari computer could only hold one at a time... you had to reboot to use another secured software.
With MIDEX you could use 4 of them at the same time.

On PC there was a dongle that fitted to the printer port.

Yes... Syncrosoft and iLok are much much better to handle :D

The Atari dongle could hold only one license... and it was preprogrammed, so there was no way to transfer the license to another dongle.

The size... If I remember well, it was about 5 x 5 x 1 cm / 2 x 2 x 0.4 inch

Nope... Atari ST was MIDI only.
I used 4 ADAT machines + BRC for audio recording

I had one too, used with the trusty Atari 1040. No hard drive, all saves with diskettes. I really loved that little setup then. It seemed like a miracle.
