Started using Cubase 4's stock Amp Simulator while demoing some tunes in a writing session. I've also had experience with Guitar Rig but actually enjoyed the tones and interface more in Amp Simulator. I usually end up running my own hardware stomp boxes. I really do like the sound of this and it's ease of use for dialing in tones everywhere from clean/blues to metal pretty damn quick. Plus, its much more processor friendly. It's really not bad at all.
I've just downloaded Waves GTR since they have a one year free thing going on so we'll see how that compares.
Live amps are still #1 though.
