wow, I actually went out and got a ilok today to try this sucker. So far it's freaking awesome. It's just what I have been wanting. A lot of flexibility with the different harmonic frequencies. It really has that analog sound that is hard to describe. It "focuses" and fattens the sound.
I have been waiting on the UAD Fatso but I think SPL just might have trumped them and I am not as anxious as I was.
Great job SPL.

Yeah. I definitely will be sending that API2500 back to Mercenary now. The SPL does more what I was wanting than the API actually. Go figure. Is it possibly to like software better than hardware? hmmm

Sure, why not?
I love hardware, and am a relative newcomer to software (well not software in general of course, but to DAWs, softsynths, plug-ins, etc.), but if some people can like things like Roland TR-808 drum machines better than real drums, why can't other people like software effects plug-ins better than hardware devices?
You won't likely ever see me switch to a virtual world (I have literally tons of analog hardware here - tape machines, tube outboard gear, etc.). But I'm certainly open to the idea of trying all the virtual stuff out. I am amazed at the power of a system like Nuendo with all the automation, recall, etc. And while the analog stuff is great, it has pretty much reached its zenith of maturity. The virtual stuff on the other hand has only gotten started. Judging by how far it has come already, I would bet that it surpasses analog in my lifetime, in terms of quality.

Uhh, yeah - that's the point. Who said it was? :smack:
Looks interesting. I'll give it a test spin. Thanks for the heads-up.
