View Full Version : Audioport - new LAN audio app
Somewhat new I guess...
Audio Impressions' Audioport (http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2009/Audio-Impressions-AudioPort-Universal.html)
But then here (http://www.audioimpressions.com/technology/audioport/) it sounds like it's WinXp and OSX only, so no 64-bit compatibility yet.

I wonder what they call low latency. Neither FXT or VE3 can really provide the sort of latency that I've come to want to use. Also only 32 channels of audio.
However, it is more than OSX users have got at the moment, so at least it's a new feature for Mac users.

I'll stick with hardware and Midi Over Lan for now as the extra hardware expense is worth the advantages over lan audio options for now.
But 32 channels on each slave isn't bad. However, I doubt the host could support 128+ channels coming in over lan from 4 slaves.
I too doubt the latency with that many audio channels would be that great.

Cool,
I am close to the local distro here in Oz, and will be getting close and personal soon with the whole sheebang, so I'll report back once I get in front of it... :-)

Looks very limited in comparison to FXT. Unfortunately, it looks like FXT is dead in the water as their forums are spam infested and never a word from MAX. sigh I really wish Steinberg would just buy the technology from him and integrate it into Cubendo.

I think that in its current incarnation, most people have moved on. I certainly have. it was great when I needed it, but there are so many better solutions these days, that I don't see any going back.

What other solutions with the same level of integration?
