Hi All

I am moving from my PC to a new Mac Pro as my PC is playing up lately.
I currently have alot of work on Nuendo 3 on PC (unfinished), which I would ideally like to finish off in Cubase 4 on the MAC. Is that Possible? This would save me doing the whole bootcamp double installation thing.

Qn. Can I go from Nuendo 3 on PC to Cubase 4 on MAC?
...meaning, that I can open a Nuendo 3 .npr with it's audio folder in my old PC, save project (inclusive of .wav audio files) onto a USB drive as a .cpr and then open it on Cubase 4 on MAC?

or if I just bring in all my data on an external harddrive (data=.npr on PC+audio files) and just open them on Cubase on MAC? that work?

Also curious to know if any Cubase 5 (yes from way back when) files on PC could be opened by Cubase 4 on MAC?

Your thoughts would be welcome. Thanks!

Yeah it should work no problem. Just transfer them via external disk or network. Only issue you might see is sometimes opening songs created in version 3 can be problematic in 4 depending on what plugs you got loaded and mixer routings etc. It is always recommended to totally rebuild preferences and configuration files etc but since you are going cross-platform to a new machine that shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you save backups of everything.

Hi

Could you them tell me the exact process I would have to undertake, starting at:

1. Open Song1.npr on Nuendo (PC) (im ideally hoping that I just copy the song folder with .npr and audio wav files on it directly into the Mac and for Cubase 4 to open a .npr from PC rather than saving it as a .cpr on the PC everytime before bringing it into the MAC)
2.
...

If it had to end up in my new Mac Pro on Cubase as a Song1.cpr (And Vice versa If I ever want to go from Song1.cpr on MAC to Song1.npr on Nuendo.
I understand the plugins/effects would have an issue, but thats fine. As for VSTs like Battery etc, I can install in the Mac.

ALSO, is this same operation possible if I want to bring some very old files from Cubase VST 5.1 on PC into Mac Pro Core 8 running Cubase 4.5.2?

Thanks again

Just copy the project folder directly to the mac, no need to convert. Cubase should be able to open npr files directly.

Cubase VST would be a problem as I think Cubase 4 no longer supports the import if I remember right. You have to import them into something like Cubase SX2 then open in Cubase 4. Though I remember there were some problems bring old Cubase VST mac files to Cubase SX2 on the pc. All muted midi notes became unmuted so I had to delete them all on the mac before migrating. Not sure if it's the same going the other way.
