First Time Poster with 2 (hopefully) easy N3 questions:

1) Is there a quick way to “Arm All Tracks” at once? I’ve discovered if I select all tracks, link them, and them Arm one it will arm them all. But then I have to immediately un-link them to avoid other linked activities from happening to all tracks, and that is silly.

2) Is there a way to have N3 save the Armed Track Status, and re-open the project with the tracks already armed? When I save a project with armed tracks and re-open it, the tracks are no longer armed. If #1 has an easy answer, then this is much less of an issue.

Hopefully these are easy compared to some of the more complex issues I have seen posted here!

Thanks

Have you tried putting said tracks into a folder, and then record arming the folder?

Nope - I haven't tried that.

Is their no other way to arm multiple tracks at once? Or to have the Track Status "recalled" when re-opening a project (as in having the tracks already armed when the project is opened)? I use "Tapemachine style" monitoring if that makes any difference. If I save a project with all tracks armed, close it, and re-open it, the tracks come up in "Input Monitor" status w/o actually being armed. Odd.

PS - Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome 2407WFPHC.

To arm all trax - select all trax and hit R (or your KC for rec arm) - all selected trax should arm.

I have a macro set up to clear any armed trax from being rec enabled too - in big sessions it can really help!!

I think the rec status being off when you reopen a project is a built in safety - I would forget I had that vocal comp armed all the way down there at the bottom and record over it all day long blissfully unaware! :P

If you want you can use the PLE to make a command to clear all input monitoring too (i think you can anyways as this was how I made my Rec clear function)...

Cheers

Sam

Thanks Sam - I'll check that out at my next opportunity. I'm incredibly dense - I think "KC" is Keyboard Command, but what is PLE? We need a thread to define all of the acronyms that are needed around here for dummies like me :) Thanks!

easy N3 questions:

There are some advantages to being on C4/N4. And PLE is nearly all of those advantages.

PLE = Project Logical Editor

See Ade's post here (http://www.cubendo.com/showpost.php?p=3188&postcount=15) for an example of what you can do with it.

Wow - PLE looks serious! Seriously intimidating! As you noticed, I'm still on N3, and I don't have PLE. I don't use all of N3's features and N4 seems to have lots of issues of its own, so I stuck with N3. Basically I use it as a glorified transport/mixer/efx rack with minor automation involvement.

I'll try the "highlight all tracks / arm with R" to see if that will speed me up. Clicking RECORD on every track drives me bonkers.

Thanks for the replies and tips!

Some of us are getting serious work done with it.

Sounds like you don't need Nuendo. Why did you go for it?

I see that you guys get deep into all aspects of this software! I initially planned on doing some Video so I went for Nuendo, but those aspirations quickly vanished.
