As stated here:

Hi,
we are running N5 on win7 64 bit with Blackmagic Intesity. in our post facilities we use Final Cut pro for video editing. when we get an OMF file from FCP to the sound rooms we open it using the import OMF option. in the import window we select all media and all audio tracks, and we choose to import it in absolute time in order to get the media in the right place. 01:00:00:00 as usualy. but the media and the tracks are allways imported to the begining of the timeline. i checked that the Final cut timeline is starting at 01:00:00:00 and it is. my time line in N5 is starting in 00:58:00:00.
when i choose to import the OMF to "time code position" all the clips are opened in the correct tracks but they are all in the start of the timeline and not in the right edited order. (i hope you understand me)
after i import the OMF, i checked in the pool and saw that the files are aiff and the original time is 00:00.

we have Pro tools 9 on one PC Win 7 64 bit, and when i import the same OMF file to PT9 it is open in the right TC. as edited by the video editor. this is the reason i suspected Nuendo.

i am sory for my English. i will try to explain my self better if you need.

You'd think after all this time, they'd get it to be able to start at the right time.

:palm:

No doubt it's a problem with OMF, Final Cut and ProTools 9. Nuendo does it right and the rest of the world is wrong. At least that's the story I'm sure will show up on SB's forum. :-/

Another reason why I'm glad I moved to PT9. No problems with any OMF I've had since moving. No video problems. Everything in sync. It just works.

No doubt the OP will eventually give up on Nuendo and just stick to PT9 since they already have it in house - after all these years and OMF is still unreliable, a fix isn't likely.

Yeah, same old story. Its FCP, not nuendo.

Or, and my favorite. "Digi updates the OMF spec daily". Right, while moving from multiple apps and PT versions, everything worked fine except Nuendo.
OR, you need a separate application to convert OMF to work properly in Nuendo. Another 600 dollars later. Might as well just get PT9 at that point.

Nuendo 4 and AAF came in 2 frames early.

AAF's, and OMF's have been fine coming from ACID, FCP, Logic ect for years.

Same old crap, different version.

I think its pretty obvious. After 6 years plus, OMF is still doing crap that makes no sense.

SB really doesn't care. If they can't get it right in 6 years, they aren't nor do they plan to.

Let's face it. SB products are sold on features not function.
Just because you buy the feature, doesn't mean it will function.

This is ridiculous. All the work I put in to show SB what was wrong on the imports and exports on V2 and 3, and we had one version that worked right in N3.
Then it fell apart again.

All that tells me is their coding is so screwed up, so overlapped and piled upon, they can't find the problems if the tried.
Its just code, piled upon code, piled upon code.

They only things they can fix are in the current version because it is the latest line of code.

Older things, that get broke because of the new lines, means longer and more time consuming digging and no promise it will ever be found or what new line of code is causing the problem.

I am shocked that for so many years, user continue to find SB's delivery, forum moderations and outright public Bullshit statements as fact, truth or otherwise.

Guys. ITs been over 6 years. Same shit. Different version. Its just frosted covered shit now with sprinkles.

Maybe there are those who has NO issues. Great. Or they do, but just don't say anything.

But the bottom line is. Nuendo isn't a Post Appilcation. Its barely a DAW. You can only call it one, when you aren't trying to figure out why it doesn't work.
Every other application can import OMF without issue. Not Nuendo.
Been 6 years now. Still can't get it right.

A format that hasn't been updated in years. A Dead format if you will, but still usable. Oh, and I asked interal AVID about "Digi updates OMF daily".
Yeah. That was never the case.
They haven't updated it in years. Other than porting it to newer versions.

The basic and bottom line specs everyone uses has stayed the same. Which is why it works everywhere else.

Another classic example of SB wanting to run the show and try to say it is AVID, when it is in fact Steinberg.
