View Full Version : Comp & limiter do not work on the master bus when the mb is set to dual panner & mono

New project; import some audio
Raise either the master bus, or the ch fader(s), so the master bus goes over 0.0 db
Insert native limiter in a pre-fader slot on the master bus
Play, and audio maxes at 0 db (or whatever the limiter's op is set to)
Set master bus to stereo dual panner, leave L/R
Play, and audio still maxes at 0 db - so far so good
Now change the master bus' panning from L/R to C/C
Play, and audio goes over 0 db - to the point where it was prior to inserting the limiter. This tells me that the limiter no longer works. Is it because there is a mono signal coming out the master bus? No - read on.
Set the master bus back to stereo balance panner, and set the ch fader to stereo dual panner, C/C
Play, and audio does not go over 0 db - limiter works, even with a mono signal coming out the master bus.
Same scenario with native compressor. I see this in v.5, as well as v.4.
I tried a Sonalksis limiter/compressor, and do not see this behavior when the master bus is set to stereo dual panner, C/C.

Am I looking at a bug, or am I missing something?

Thanks much in advance.
