HI!
I'm just coming over to Cubase 5.5 from Sonar 8.5.
My first order of business is recreating my master template in Cubase. By preference I work with Key Switched V.I.'s from the above (and more) list and would like to utilize these from within the Cubase Expression Maps. I customized much of the above in Kontakt (Scripts etc) but as needed use Play, Vienna, Uvi etc players also. However with Exp Maps beyond VSL, most of the instrument developers I use don't currently and may never have developer maps written for Cubase for their libraries.
(NOTE: I layer record 13 individual, differing Violin library tracks to comprise my Orchestral Vln section, 6 for Viola, 6 for Cello etc). I'd install these Exp Maps in Master and expanding Sub Folders.)
So mainly within Cubase I'd like to use Expression Maps to bring all of my varied library instruments articulation patches into a systematic Key Switch structure.
As an example I'd assign to all Treble Clef instruments Key Switch "c0" so that each of those 13 individual Violin K.S. instruments would have my favored East West - VSL, LASS etc "LEGATO" patches on "c0" , all my on TREMOLOS on K.S. "g#0", assign all my SPIC's to "g1" and so on for every articulation I use. I believe that without developer maps I'll lose the Cubase Map-Score Editor accessories, but I already run Sibelius anyway, so I'll live with it.
I've an example below:
1st VLN-MAP #1
c0 - East West xf 18 Vln Expression,
c#0-E.W. xf Non Vib
d0- E.W. SORD 18
and etc through to f2
1st VLN--MAP # 2
c0-LASS SVLN spd p
c#0 LASS SV nesp s
d0-LASS SV Sord
etc on through VSL,X CHAMBER,TRILLIAN, SAMPLEMODELLING etc.
My BIG question is this---
If I use only Key Switch numbers instead of instead of the typical "Staccato", "WT Trill", etc articulation names for titles will Cubase be able to read and play these instruments set up in this manner?
NOTE: I've indexed my own articulation to Key Switch identities in my VI Instrument track sheets so the only label I need from Cubase's Map at this point is the Key Switch number (d#0,etc).
Thanks in advance
