Very wierd.
My mac did just update to safari 5... I blame that!
(google cache is working, but trying to go to ANY pages on those two sites just come up with errors.)

And just tested about 15 other sites quickly. they all work. Wierd

:) So wierd that it just appears as those sites that are down. Chrome / Firefox both having the same issues. I'm running to my studio, so will try again there on a different net connection.
Thanks for checking.

Anyone in australia able to get to nuendo.com?
I've just changed my dns, (from isp to google dns, and then tried open dns....)
No dice.
Tried from Iphone using 3g (not wifi) and no luck either.
Ah well. I'll worry about it again later, and hopefully it will right itself.
(Looking at www.whatsmydns.net, seems that nuendo has probs in china, russia and one little part of the USA, but not Aus.)

hehehe :)
See. Now I'm really confused. Can't get on from either of the studio computers either (different ISP)...
AND I can't get on thru my vpn in either the UK or USA. Something odd for sure - I can't for the life of me work out what could cause it.

From my studio computer : Safari can’t open the page “http://www.nuendo.com/” because Safari can’t find the server “www.nuendo.com”.

THAT is telling me there is a dns problem somewhere.... hints / ideas?

Cheers, B.

If you happened to upgrade each copy of Safari, try clearing it's cache, perhaps restarting it, though I assume that was done already anyway; and since this was two different systems and ISP, it seems extremely remote that would be the problem.

Safari has an interesting way of simply losing track of DNS servers (used to see that all the time, esp. with Nuendo.com, sometimes Cubendo, sometimes GS or VI-Control). That's why Safari was the first browser to get the boot here and on our home system (Mac and PC) - maybe you prefer it, but we found it to be the most buggy browser out there.

I assume though other browsers also can't find it - if so, it could just be a link between you and Germany.

Yeah - I suspected safari, but I have now tried :
1 x laptop
2 x workstations
(total, 2 different isp's)
+ 1 x iphone.
Safari, Chrome, firefox.
All macs though ;)
And I can get thru to other german sites.
AND I can't get thru using a VPN into usa or uk...
I just can't work out what could cause this situation.
Ah well.

Ah. Because of the "aussie issue" with pricing, they've blocked Australia I bet. Maybe they don't want any more commentary on the extortion pricing down under.

We need Vin, Sam and the other cobbers to give it a test.

hm...
I'm most interested in why I can't see it from my UK VPN....
I wonder if it is not just australia with the problem...

And here's the kicker.

If I point my browser to http://nuendo.com rather than http://www.nuendo.com - it works.
Ditto cubase.net

(Except - of course - I can't login...as it tries to pull up http://forum.nuendo.com - which it can't.... so I can't even tell them there is a problem. Ah well....)

kdm

Okay - it isn't just you - it's down here as well now - both versions of the URL. Weird. It must be their DNS servers cycling new addresses, or the site just up and down.

kdm

Try http://forum.nuendo.com/phpbb2/

That works here - so they must be redirecting the other URLs.

colony nofi

But if its changing...i'm guessing someone is trying to fix it. :)

kdm

I think that's what's happening - I went to steinberg.net and followed the link there to the forum. It used to be http://www.nuendo.com/phpbb2/ but now it's http://forum.nuendo.com/phpbb2/ (my old bookmark doesn't work, but the link from steinberg.net does).

What browswer? Might try clearing the cache just to be sure. Since they changed the URL it has to propagate through name servers. Could just be a temporary issue based on the route your ISP takes to it. That said, I've actually had ISPs fail to recognize DNS changes, so if it doesn't come back up - give them a ring and see what they say.

I ended up going to Steinberg's main site and jumping through the support forum links... They've created a new site name "ID" that shows up in bookmark/favorites now... I had to save this one for it to work, even though the actual link was the same I'd been using.

Seems to be a DNS issue. I use googles dns service at 8.8.8.8 and that has this issue. Setting it back to auto (which uses the upc Amsterdam DNS server) it now works normal again. Strange:willy_nilly:

Yeah - google dsn has been having trouble with it all day - and now my isp dns AND open dns are both unable to get into nuendo.com from ANY of the suggested methods. They are struggling for sure. Whether it is a big update, or just a server transition gone wrong, who knows.....

So far I've noticed that if www.nuendo.com (http://www.nuendo.com) doesn't seem to work, then forum.nuendo.com is working, or visa versa.

I did see both gone though one day, but usually one or the other is working.

Right now, both DNS addresses work here.

Is this a DNS server type of problem or is Nuendo.com doing something that is throwing the internet DNS servers off? Just curious if anyone knows.

Seems like there are rolling outages again - bothe nuendo.com and forum.nuendo.com are throwing up php errors. So, this time rather than dns problems, it seems that behind the scenes updates are adversely effecting users...
