While I have been completely reorganizing my FX library, I wanted to convert all my old SD2 files to wave files.

Looking around for a converter, and I was coming up empty.

Using A better Finder Rename to replace illegal characters, I'd import the SD2 files into the C5 pool, and convert and replace.

Good thing I had my C5 dongle with me. Forgot that Cubase/Nuendo had, basically a batch converter.

Something PT doesn't have.

And, I am leaving the interleave files, AS INTERLEAVE.

Just as there is no reason to convert every file to split mono, there is no reason to convert every split mono to interleave.

Good point.
But few months ago I came across some wav files nuendo / cubase couldn't import - which surprised me.
Actually, couldn't import is not correct. It "tried" to import them, and reported as if it had, but all that would appear would be 0sample long files with the names of the originals.
These were files recorded from a free "phone in" line for radio. 8khtz, 16 bit (I think)
I'll double check these specs later, and report back. I use another 3rd party batch converter for these files now.
Cheers, b.

Dude... I developed an entire string library using Nuendo's Batch processing and renaming... would have taken me forever otherwise.

Nuendo is awesome in that regard... as well as others.

Andrew - just out of curiosity - how many samples, and how long did it take to edit, if you don't mind saying?

I would say, that I have found a much better renamer though.

All of the different things you can set and change and multi task rename as well. It is a God Send in dealing with a massive FX library as I am recatagorizing all of it.
Still have to use PT for metadata information. Basically additional information that just won't fit into the name, but comes up in Sound Miner.

Rename 200 files, all with different things ect in about 1/2 second.

I don't believe Steinberg supports or recognize the SD2 format at all.

I would recommend trying Bias Peak, DSP Quattro or Audiofile Engineering WaveEditor - basically the 3 most known audio editors on the mac.
I know that DSP Quattro and WaveEditor have demos' available so you should be able to download them and try. If the demo's prevent "saving in demo mode" then just email them directly.

I'm pretty sure one of them should be able to do this.
Check it out and let us know what you find out.

Oh, And I nearly forgot, You could try icedaudio "AudioFinder" as well its a handy ap that handles metadata pretty well too.

Someone might want to clue him in, I had no problems (as I am ba,ba,ba banned). But I was using C5.0.

If there was a change in the later versions, this is kind of a problem.

PC's do not support SD2 files, though I have been able to get Nuendo to read them if I select "all types" when importing.
Timecode stamp is lost though. It might lose the sample rate and bit rate as well since that info is in the hidden resource fork.

For PC, RailRogut (sic) made a SD2 to wav program that will convert them.

On MAC, it should work fine.
