I have recently just started in on home recording and am using Cubase 5, Toontrack Superior Drummer v2, and Toontrack EZ Player pro to create drum sequences for my songs. I also use a Line6 Podxt as my sound card.

I must be missing something easy, because I can open up both virtual instruments (SD and EZ player) and create a midi track for it to be routed to, I can't hear the track. When I start a sequence playing I can see the meter moving but I can't hear the sound at all. In fact, when I hit record on the midi track to try and record it to see if I can hear it on playback, the meter goes flat and there is no input to the midi track.

Thanks for the help.

1. F11 to open up VST Instruments window
2. Put EZ player in the first slot and say no when it asks if you want a midi track
3. Put SD2 in the second slot in the rack and select yes when it asks if you want a midi track
4. Drag a loop onto the track 1 in the EZ player
5. Underneath the DYNAMICS knob, clik there and go to SETTINGS and set LOOP= ON
6. Hit PLay on the track in EZ Player
7. Hit the MONITOR button on the MIDI track you just created for S2
8. Change the MIDI INPUT to = EZ Player
9. Make sure the MIDI OUTPUT = Superior 2

You should be hearing your loop now

**Make sure you have the POD XTPro as your audio device under the Device Setup/VST Audio System

Whatever MIDI track your wanting to record the EZ player midi on, you have to set that tracks MIDI INPUT to EZ Player and hit the MONITOR button for the track

I just set this up here and its working fine

Thanks for the help. I have done exactly what you said and yes now I can hear the track playing; however, if I hit record (activate the midi channel record button and then hit the record button on the master transport) to capture the created drum sequences I made, the meter goes flat and the midi track records an empty track with no sound. As soon as I turn off record the sound comes back. I was able at one point today actually record some of the track, but it got about half way through the track then stopped recording all the beats and would only play one hit every 4 or 12 measures . . . very weird.

Is there a way to export the midi sequences from ez player instead of having to record them? What are the record buttons on the EZ player for?

I appreciate the help.

I just use the EZ Player for auditioning the midi loops. If I find something I like I will drag it to the Project page to a discrete midi track.

Thanks Animus, I knew it had to be easier than what I was trying to do. Just dragging and dropping sure is easy, now I also see what the glue button is for! Thanks again!
