Why would there need to be any advertisers?
That's why I like this place its just a forum and no website to speak of, no banners no rubbish down the sides, nothing underneath.
It's a text based forum, like the old days when scientists used it to send instant messages and email was not even envisigaged.
Sure we can upload images and even certain file types but I don't think it's either suitable or appropriate to have advertisers all over the "shop" and I doubt anyone here would ultimately disagree, so let it be ok.
It is better to get interactivity going before any advertising, false or otherwise genuine since what it needs are things like what was originally suggested in this post but not rubbish that just opens up media player or something or some dodgey adobe control.
With the combined skills of people here, someone should be able to make some codecs to run cross-platform inside various commercial players so they can be embedded in the webpage and downloaded on demand.
Can I say penis in here?
I'm sorry, something must be broken. My bad. :rotfl:

back to this...
it would be great if it could link to video as well...(ya know, nuendo=post or something...so some of the work might just be to video...i dunno though....)
I understand that it can be tricky to be the host of streaming video...

In some forums, you can imbed youtube videos via the post by encapsulating the youtube link with http://www.youtubelink

Hm.
I just had a look at the "google wave" presentation from the IO conference.
I don't think that it will only change email forever, but forums are definitely going to be changed by this as well in the not too distant future.
The vid is an hour long. I was hooked.

Cheers, Brendan.
