I still have my eye on StudioOne. looks like the one with a lot of potential to compete majorly with the Steinborg.

I like presonus, very smooth with the midi and device recognition is great but a bit limited in features at least for my use.

Rumour has it that the same guys who supposedly were behind steinberg are now working on it, but as all good things must eventually come to an end, so will cubendo in it's current form and out from the ashes will rise a new paradigm.

It probably sounds over the top, maybe it is, but I don't really accept the "former employee" line.

What does anyone else think?

They are ex Steinberg developers. In fact they existed as a company before they made a deal with Presonus. Presonus are just providing them with finance and resources I am sure.

So be "in the know" I am surprised you didn't know this. :-)

Presonus were using TC Group chips for their hardware, don't know if they have any USB stuff, no PCI or e that's for sure.

That's what I mean though Stacy, being so-called ex in devworld means confidentiality agreements and so on so one can only deduce that they are the future of steinberg and the current stonemountain developers are operating on a dead core, while developing new features that can be ported over later.

Is this not the reason why there is so much upset in DAW world or am I on another planet?

I don't know, but I believe I have the same tools as everyone else, the same OS and pretty much the same hardware and so on.

In other words the computer has brought everyone onto the same road, same speed limit even if one car is slightly better than the next we all must observe virtually the same services and I mean that in computing terms.

The Sonicstate cameraman in the 1.5 video needs someone to bolt him to the floor.

Looking at the full 1.5 description on Presonus' site - some interesting additions:

Quicktime video with resizable view window and offset (still needs Decklink support though).
Drag and drop clips to a folder/drive to export (midi or audio).
Dynamic tempo within a clip - no slicing and setting different tempos for each - not sure what that really looks like, but sounds interesting, and a bit ahead of the status quo for other DAWs.

Development seems to be moving quickly enough at the moment.
