Hello @ all inhere, nice to join up.

I have a question about VST3 Presets in Cubase 4.5 ( Windows ):

When i create my own sounds with VSTi´s and save them as a VST3 Preset,
Cubase saves them into a folder at
"\User\Username\AppData/Steinberg\VST3Presets....".

I want to change the path by creating a folder with the same name on another drive, so that when i reinstall windows i do not loose my own presets.

When i create an Alias-Folder from this Backup-Drive and move it to the C:-Drive, Cubase/Media Bay recognices the folder, scans it - but the Presets dont appear in the Plugins.

How do you backup your own VST3Presets?
Do you have some idea how i can get this work?

You can't have everything the way you want it, but you can copy and paste, or you can image.

Thanks for your answer.

That is a pitty, because for example Spectrasonics Stylus RMX
lets you do this with the Sample Content, what makes life a lot
easier.

It would be nice, if you could set the path for this in Mediabay....

The whole Preset management system in SEQ4 absolutely sucks, I have basically stopped using it since half the time you save a preset you will never see it again.

Hi Stace,

This issue I have determined to be linked with Track Presets, in so far as at that level they are "always" available. The problem is of course track presets aren't available for the VST Rack.

Hm, that is really sucking me off.

I installed Cubase4 after half a year from music-break.
But after a few hours of work i run again into this "mismanagement" of the VST-Presets in it.

I want to use the Mediabay from my deepest heart, but without fxb management ( also save from cubase as fxb ) i am sucked.

I wait for NAMM and take a look what Cubase5 offers ( and after all the quickbuyers betatested it )decide to give it another try...maybe EnergyXT2.5 will solve my needs:
Easy to use, stable and optimised workflow.

we will see...i love cubase but dont want to workaround such basic things all the time. its a pitty.
