Dear Wavelab users,

We now have the updates to WaveLab 6.1.1, WaveLab Studio 6.1.1 and WaveLab Essential 6.0.1 (yes, 6.0.1) available for download.

These minor updates enable the installation of WaveLab on Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) as a 32-bit application.

This is not a patch but a full installer. You do not need your original WaveLab installation CD. A valid license must be available. It can be used over an existing installation.

Compared to version 6.1 no new feature or bug fix is introduced, except for a better compatibility when loading Waves plug-ins.

The 6.1.1 update isn't officially supported because version 6.1.1 hasn't been fully tested!

Mixed reports from end users whether it has fixed anything in regards to CD Burning , despite not having any fixes listed some are reporting that CD burning is now working in Vista and Windows 7 , but has not resolved anything for others, so its the usual crap shoot, but at least we now have unofficial Windows 7 support... :eusa_whistle:

So wait.

They release a version that they don't support? HuH!

I mean , why not fix and support it? It is like buying gas for your car, but there is no guarantee that is will actually work for your car.

It might be snake oil, or crisco.

Talk about wrapping up a turd and selling it.

Wavelab is just one wonderful piece of kit. I am seriously happy with it. Wish I had a dollar for every big record secretly mastered in Wavelab.

Pete,

No argument that Wavelab is an incredible piece of kit for mastering, but its a total and utter crap shoot for burning , always has been and still is.

Check out my last adventure in getting it to play nice with a few recent SATA burners.

Mind you I have posted a simple 3 step fix that resolved it on all of the recent systems, something that Steinberg or P.G couldn't get their arse into to gear to knock together.

No guarantee it will work for all, and that is the problem.

No such issues with any other burning app.

Really has to make you wonder if Steinberg is even paying attention to technology advances and the user issues.

Obviously they aren't.

Oh yeah, I've seen the burning issues, spent a lot of time on the phone with Peter Moshay (Hall and Oates) sorting it out. But on the other hand they sent me some Omaha steaks! (-:

Maybe I should have done a new thread for this but..

What are the advantages you guys find in using something like Wavelab vs staying in the app you mixed? For me, I used to work completely in PT TDM land. Record, edit, mix, and the either master or pre-master to send out. Granted, to be able to que up the entire album and "do it all" like that is nice, but I could do the album/CD/etc sequencing in one of many apps.. the "mastering" part though..

Just curious!

yep, i do al the actual 'mastering' eq/com/limit/ volume etc in cubendo then once I'm happy export the 16 bit files into wavelab montage for doing the ISRC codes/text and gaps, I can then generate a PQ sheet for the mastering plant.

I'm very surprised though that there's no native DDP solution in wavelab as its supposed to be the 'proffesional' mastering App.

Sending masters via the internet to FTP sites of pressing plants, DDP is the best(most proffesional) way.

If I could find an app that i can just load my 16 bit wavs in, do CD text,ISRC,Bar codes and export as a DDP that's all i need.Soundblade does it but its mac only.
