MIDI record problem

Hi All, sorry for the stupid question...I'm pretty new to the MIDI game.
I have a Fireface 400 running on a PC XP 32bit, and Nuendo 3.
When I have my MIDI tracks record enabled or direct monitored, I can both
see MIDI input on the track and transport bar, and hear it as well. But then , when I press record on the transport bar...nothing. No MIDI input on the meters, and nothing actually recorded (when I press stop, the event that was being created disappears). I've tried tinkering around with setting and whatnot - but I have no clue what I'm doing......
Could this be a Fireface issue? Or maybe the MIDI keyboard itself?(an old Yamaha P80) either way I'm stumped......

[Update-Just realized that there IS midi input on the transport bar - but no audio or midi input on the channels.]

Give a screenshot of MIDI Port Config. in Device Setup.

As I updated earlier - when MIDI channels is record enabled, I both see MIDI input in the transport and channels, and hear the sound as well.when I hit record, there is MIDI input registered in the transport meter, but NOT in the channels or VSTs. Nothing gets
recorded .MIDI out isn't connected in my device setup because I'm only using VSTs and a MIDI keyboard to control them.....

Is MIDI Thru checked in Prefs? In MIDI Record Filter, is Sysex the only box checked? Make sure Start Record At Left Locator isn't checked under Transport.

Yes, and yes. Thanks anyway, I think it may be a Nuendo/Fireface bug......I installed Cubase SX3 and tried it with the same setup, and works like a charm.....
