View Full Version : Advice needed - video out options

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about getting the Intensity Pro Card for my studio with Sequoia and Cubase 5. Up until now I have used a plain two monitor (20') setup with an ATI 2400HD graphic card. However, as "audio for video post" work is increasing rapidly here, I have added a 24' wide screen for video output.

First, I thought about getting the intensity for sending HDMI out to the 24', but my applications are not listed under support 3rd party software - only Nuendo 3.2 (have Nuendo 4 at work but not going to use this setup there..).

Another option is to get a PNY or Matrox multi DVI graphic card, but I haven't found any of these ( at a reasonable price I might add ;-) )that also have hw video encoding support as well. Most projects still run pretty well with software encoding ( even my bootcamped Macbook Pro..) but more CPU headroom is always welcome.

Question is: Do you think it's possible to address/call the hardware video encoding on the Intensity card ( and its Mjpeg codec) from e.g. the direct show filter ( from within Sequoia or Cubase) even if these applications does not "see" the card per se?

Any other suggestions are welcome of course ;)

Cheers,
Ola

I'm calling B & H Photo/Video/Pro Audio in NYC tomorrow to ask similar questions. They carry all the items in question there and I'm hoping someone actually knows if Cubase will work with Intense Pro card well in XP x64 or W7, especially handling 23.976 fps with QuickTime as the video method selected in Cubase.

Not sure if you are in the states, but here is their link:

well, B & H didn't tried to help with three different sales people, but none of them were familiar enough with everything and how it works together, i.e. Cubase and Intensity Pro card. But they did tell me about the Mpeg Slipstream Clip Converter that is free. Wonderful tool and solved my problem, and further video from my current project will be supplied to me at 25fps, which works as smoothly as 29 drop frame for me. Easy on the cpu now.

I'll still get the intensity pro carl or similar along with a dedicated video monitor just to clear up my DAW screens. I don't mind at all working with small picture. Just hate the clutter.
