Can anyone shed some light on this?

Sometimes the mixes I pump out from Nuendo wont import into FCP (i think aiff suffers the same fate)....sometimes they do just fine....I just did some PAL conversions in wavelab the other day (did I mention how awesome the DIRAC algo sounds for stretching!!!!) and alas at the other end they couldn't import to FCP!!!! Grrrrr!!! The files are just greyed out in the FCP import dialogue as if they aren't audio files etc....

What is weirder is that they open fine in compressor and will convert to aiff and then import fine. They will also import just fine into Soundtracker and export as aif for import to FCP....

I can work around it - but any idea why it is happening? Its really starting to get to me!!! I cant remember this happening when exporting from Nuendo on OSX so maybe it could be an NTFS/HFS issue?

Cheers

Sam

Hi Sam - I've run into this as well, and can't recall if we ever found a reason, other than FCP being screwed up.

A couple of things to try: 16 vs. 24 bit; BCast wav with a header, vs. saving without including header info. It isn't a Mac/PC issue as we deliver from PC to FCP all the time, usually without issue (except for the few screwy wav problems).

Hey Dedric, thanks for getting back to me mate :)

hmmm...I have actually had some weird stuff with FCP wrongly stamping audio (or reading header) as 24p and then doing a pull down on it screwing my sync entirely!!!

Yeah FCP is screwed up - so I will do some experimenting.....

Let me know if you find anything. I'll let you know if I do as well. I've been meaning to do some tests with a FCP editor here, but we've both been too busy to get back to it.

Hey guys, FCP is doing weird things to your Wav files, it's all here:

I've switched to supplying Aif's for FCP editors, seems to be okay so far. john.
