View Full Version : Tell me about your dreams
I thought about making this a poll, but there would be way too many choices.
Anyway, I have had vivid/lucid/recurring dreams most of my life. A vivid dream is simply a very life-like dream. A vivid dream can seem like you are not dreaming at all. A vivid dream can have a sub-dream, a dream-within-a-dream. I have had these as well. Imagine waking from what you think is a dream, into another dream! It's a very strange event.
A lucid dream is one where you control the action. You call the shots. You are the director. Anything can and will happen. Wet dreams are often of the lucid variety.
Recurring dreams. Obviously these are dreams which repeat the same theme over and over. I have had a number of these, as well. Some of them have haunted me my entire life. Recurring dreams are generally vivid dreams. There may be some lucidity in recurring dreams, but by their very nature they are not generally malleable. Details may be lucid, but the theme is always immutable.
One of my recurring dreams involves a large reptilian creature that seeks to destroy me. Another series involves a woman who looks like Kylie Minogue/Leslie Caron. I've had all three types of dream with this woman.
Anyway, I find that in dreams, there is a strong person capable of doing anything. This is the essence of the ID, or the super-ego. The sub-conscious mind in the spiritual world of pure thought. Something that didn't come from your father or your mother, but that which is you. This is the pure you, the true you. The energy that powers the mind.
Tell me of your experiences.
So, I guess there is no one else here who remembers their dreams.
Not surprising, I suppose.
I will admit that most of the time, I do not remember my dreams either. But when I do, damn! There's lots of fireworks when I do.

I have this reccuring dream that I'm back in high school, late for school, can't remember my locker combination, can't remember my classes or what books I need for those classes and have to go to the office to get the info. :icon_twisted:

What, you're not naked too? :icon_lol:
That's an interesting dream. Probably a very common theme for many people. I've never had any dreams like that.
Thanks for sharing.

Thinking about it, it's more like deja vu. It actually used to happen. There was some good smoke and chemicals going around back in the day. :D

I have another dream where someone I know killed a girl/ woman and buried her in a gravel bank in the rain. I never see their face to know exactly who it is, it's just a sense that I know who did it. :eusa_eh:

It's common in the live music industry for people to have dreams where they are on stage and realize that they are naked, or have the wrong gear, or don't know how to play or something along those lines. I have had them often, and a lot of performers that I know have them. We call then gigmares.
I had vivid recurring dreams for many years as a child, it was like a second life to me and the characters and story arc went for years. I would wake up in my dream in the same location, sitting in the snow at night under a bright starry sky with a toy that I had in real life that my grandfather made for me, and then a dinosaur would turn up, and some other creatures, and we would talk to one another about all kinds of things.

Most excellent!

I dream that someday I'll have the time to spend posting some dreams on the cubendo forum.
No wait, really, I will try to participate. It's a cool idea.

I usually have 3 sometimes 4 dreams going at once - I channel surf between them; Its like stepping in and out of them and participating as needed. Most of the time they are normal dreams about current life, but play-out like alternate time-lines/realities.

Okay, those aren't dreams.
That is what's commonly referred to as insanity. :rotfl:

Most people don't remember their dreams, so it really is okay if all you're dreaming of is more free time. :icon_cool:

What if what we perceive as dreams are just as valid a reality than our current conscious / waking states.., its simply that we choose this frequency to operate in , while all other probable and parallel are accessed via what we deem , a dream state... :eusa_whistle:

I have often wondered this myself.
I haven't found very many people are get a "heads up display" and choose which dream to immerse themselves into... maybe my shrink is wrong - maybe I am insane.

I can exert some limited control in some dreams, but not all. Haven't heard of a HUD though!

I had a recurring nightmare for the first couple of decades of my life where I would be on an industrial walkway going around the inside of an almost infinitely massive looking greenhouse/warehouse. Walkways extend upwards and downwards with no apparent end and every walkway was packed with people marching round it with me stuck in the middle of one of the lines. There was no way to get up or down to another level and no way to stop moving with the horde or space to even turn around.
The whole thing was accompanied by an awful metallic taste and smell, an overwhelming mixture of claustrophobia and delirium, and an incessant, repetitive sort of freaky nasal metallic breathing/banging noise with sort of reversed female vowel sounds if I had to try and pin it down.
These days I dream about more normal stuff, but for the life of me I can't remember one. I'll post if I have one before this thread wakes up and dissappears. :)

Awesome conjecture! I have often thought about this possibility. Think about it as the life you live but mostly do not remember. There are a lot more thoughts I have which run in this direction.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow, that's rather ominous.
Another question for the dreamers: have you ever gone to bed with a problem, then awoken having dreamed the solution?
This happens to me quite often, which is why I find parallels with Vin's suggestion. There is no doubt that we live a mostly un-remembered life in dreams.
Thanks for sharing that one.

Here is some more to ponder , our chosen perception of the linear and the parallel is simply one of an infinite multitude of probable and parallels, there is no past , present, future, all is experienced concurrently , our consciousness can traverse any and all , but for most , that ability is only available during our "sleep states".
Our current waking consciousness is simply one of our infinite probable and parallel selves , all part of a collective consciousness that is the I in I AM, all experiences are available to the collective, and many times the experiences will overlap and be shared for the greater benefit of the entity as a whole.
You can call that creativity, intuition, inspiration , for me its simply consciousness experiencing the expanded realities that are available within the collective that are part of All That Is.
We create every aspect of our own and collective realities, careful what you wish for...

Vin, pinch yourself and tell us if you wake up. :D

Doesn't surprise me at all. :icon_cool:
Wow, last night was a Deusy! (and the night before)
I remember several.
First was the music store dream, a recurring one, which has lucid elements. In this particular variant, I actually sold someone a pair of Neumann KM84 mics and an Apogee Duet to be used with his laptop for live recordings. I was not an employee of the store, but the salesman and the manager graciously split the store commission on the sale with me. We discussed at some length the split and the method of payment.
Second was a new dream. This one was also a lucid dream. My wife and I were traveling in California, and she was driving backwards on the freeway, and not paying attention to what she was doing. I took over the wheel, but we continued to drive backwards for some reason. The car handled very well, considering that we left the road and were driving in the air at times. There ARE flying cars. :rotfl:
The last was a rather disturbing dream, and was somewhat of an extension to the previous dream. We arrived home to find someone else living in our apartment, which had been rented by someone unknown to us. The new "tenants" were somewhat belligerent and it seemed rather stupid. They could not understand why an apartment full of someone else's belongings was not a vacant apartment. We argued about this at some length. The police were called to the scene, but refused to arrest him or his girlfriend. One of our cats took a dump on the floor, because the idiots had thrown out her litter pan.
Anyway, don't want to bore with details, so I've kept these descriptions short.
Happy dreaming! :icon_cool:

Different stories, but similar sort of feel to some of my dreams. If my stress levels are quite high, the scenes with conflict can become quite violent as I try to maintain self preservation!
