There will be 15 hours of live bluegrass broadcast on Sirius XM satellite radio this coming weekend - September 5/6/7 from 12PM to 5 PM EST each day. This was recorded at the MACC (Musicians Against Childhood Cancer) Bluegrass Classic in Columbus, Ohio on July 22-25. http://www.sirius.com/bluegrassjunction and http://www.xmradio.com/onxm/channelpage.xmc?ch=14.
This project was recorded with an Alesis HD24 from the direct outs of the live console. With 15 hours of music to deal and the short time in which we had to get this done, we were forced to use the L/R feed from the live desk - though we did get the multitrack channels recorded for later use. Nuendo was used to "master" the project completely in the box using the following plug-ins - Waves LinMB, API 2500, IR-1 and L3-16 among others.
In 2006, "Celebration of Life" which was recorded during the 2000-2005 years at this festival, was released on Skaggs Family Records and won the IBMA Album of the Year (mixed and mastered in Nuendo). 100% of the proceeds go to benefit childhood cancer research at St. Jude Children's Hospital. We are about to start work on "Celebration of Life II" with a release planned for April 2009.
