I'm having issues with 178.13 where the device fails to start at boot and a re-install is needed.

Was 169.21 the last stable release?

Hey Nate,

Haven't really followed the Nvidia revisons for the mainstream cards that closely over the years as I use Quadra cards for the vast majority of the clients systems here , but I have been using some of the 18x.x versions of drivers lately across XP/Win7 , for both the Quadra and conventional cards without issue here. Worth a shot.

They are up to 190.62 now, haven't tried that one yet .

What were the specific issue with some of the earlier driver revs ?

The only issue I've had is the one I posted about the latest revision. Wondered if it was common.

You mean the version you listed in the first post - 178.13 ?

Mate, thats 12 months old.

Just go to the driver archive section of the download area and you will see the list of drivers released since that one listed, there are quite a few.

Plenty to choose from , I have used the 182 and 185 release series drivers here successfully. Stay away from the BETA's.

BTW: Do I have to send you and Bill to a private room , again..

Actually, the 169 works great here so I'll stick with that. The 178 came from MS update so I guessed it was tried and proven.

What quizzed me off was that I did a fresh install and took an image with that crap driver. All that time wasted. Well, at least I practiced a good while in the doing. :icon_cool:

Well there is your problem..

First and only rule I have for Windows Update is..., Disable It !!

I doubt the actual driver was the issue, more so how Windows Update implemented it, seriously Mate switch the thing off, I assure you , you won't be missing a thing.. :-)

Windows Update is never enabled here, that's just where I saw that driver version.

Currently on 186.18 and I'll be staying there until I retire.

My long struggle with nvidia drivers was finally solved with this update. Here's a link to the discussion:

2 issues: ASIO spikes when plugin open(visible), ASIO jumpy when recording on lanes (http://cubendo.com/showthread.php?t=770&page=3)
