I'd order from that page. Save 50 Eurocash.

I think that it may be that you can only order VE3 if you already have at least one Vienna Instrument.

VSL said that is not the case; this is - according to them - only true of the demo.

I can't remember. I suggest that you post it on the VSL forum, or contact support.

However, it is hardly going to break the bank, considering what you get for the money.

One more thing. Make sure that VE Pro is a supported host for the sample players you're hoping to run in it. There is no point in spending the money in advance, only to find out that the developer of your sample player of choice won't support it.

yes for Vienna Ensemble 3 (since you can't load anything other than Vienna Instruments libraries) - this will change with VE PRO though ...

Precisely. So how can you buy VE3 if you don't have any Vienna Instruments? You can't.

Right - you can't buy VE3 if you don't have any VE instr, but you can buy VE PRO. At least that's the impression I am getting...

Yes, but what I'm getting at is that the reduced price seems only to be for people upgrading from VE3, so by definition you have to pay full price for VE Pro if you don't have any Vienna Instruments.

Ah - that's what youa re saying the price difference is? Ok, that makes sense.

Does anybody know if there will be a demo? Their website isn't exactly the greatest to navigate and find information out.

There was always a demo for VE3, so i would assume that there will be for VE Pro.

I thought this might be important to most anyone looking into this. Below is the quote from page 8 of the VE PRO manual about latency settings and what they mean:

• Setting the Latency to “none” will synchronize Vienna Ensemble PRO with your soundcard, so that
no latency is added – while very good for recording percussive sounds, this also adds a lot of strain
to the CPU.

• Setting the Latency to “1 buffer” will add one buffer to your soundcard latency. If your soundcard
latency is, e.g., 256 Samples, your latency when playing live will be 512 samples.

• Setting the Latency to “2 buffers” will add 2 buffers to your soundcard latency. If your soundcard
latency is, e.g., 256 Samples, your latency when playing live will be 768 samples.

Generally speaking: The faster your CPU and the better your soundcard, the more you can expect from
your system!

We suggest to use a low latency in your soundcard and keep the latency setting at “2 buffers”.
