Today I was at my dealer to bring my Mackie Controller for repair because the display backlight is losing brightness. In october it's one year old, so still guarantee. No problem about that... My dealer even gave me his personal MCU for the time being :icon_cool:

But... then we got talking about Mackie, because I heard that their customer service wasn't very well. I have no personal experience with their service, besides one short email that didn't answer my question... no problem.. I get used to callcenters and helpdesks that don't help when you call... but I always give a company one chance :D

So far about the service... then my dealer started talking... in fact whispering, so other customers couldn't hear...
'Hey... their service doesn't matter anymore.. they are at the edge of bankruptcy'
Me; 'Are you sure?!'
He; 'Yes, they have huge debts they can't pay anymore... But don't worry about your MCU. It's going to a repaircenter in Belgium. In the meantime you can take mine with you'
Yes... He knows how to keep his customers happy... :icon_cool:

But... Anybody else who knows if it is true that Mackie is about to die? :eusa_eh:

Mackie is not an independent company, and are a subsidiary of LOUD Technologies. If anyone would be going in bankruptcy, it would be LOUD Technologies, which also would encompass St Louis Music, which handles Alvarez Guitars, Crate & Ampeg Amplifiers, EAW and a few other lines.

The only information I can find on this is not reliable, and it's not the first time.

I am doubtful that this is any more than a rumor.

That's what I think so far. Didn't hear or read anything that pointed in that direction yet.

I think Mackie sold out when they were on top of the mountain. They relocated, and started farming out production to the far east about 10 years ago... and so goes the familiar story of decline of a brand due to the bloated conglomerate puppetmaster bleeding the reputation by diluting quality and service.
